Total Indicative Remuneration: $503,331 - $767,446 p.a. (pro rata) - MD2 Consultant/Snr Consultant

Ongoing Part Time (18.75 hours per week)

The Director of Clinical Services provides clinical leadership within Port Lincoln Hospital and more widely within the Eyre and Far North Local Health Network.

Duties include :

  • Oversees all aspects of safe, evidence-based, efficient, patient-centred medical care in the hospital, Work with colleagues, medical and nursing, to develop contemporary patient care processes, Active engagement in continuous quality improvement activities including audit, Clinical Review and patient complaint management, Support for the supervision of medical students and active engagement in the supervision of junior medical staff, Work with the EDMS on future planning of Hospital services to offer a support service to the network’s hospitals, Work with the EDMS on the development of robust and safe services on a remote basis through telehealth consulting, Work with the EDMS on the development of a new facility within Port Lincoln Hospital for the Emergency Department.

The Director of Clinical Services must have a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Be a Fellow of RACGP or ACRRM.  Be registered as a specialist in General Practice and in good standing with the Medical Board of Australia with extensive experience in rural clinical practice.  Must have experience in delivery of emergency care and other procedural areas such as obstetrics, anaesthetics and paediatrics in a rural setting, experience in formulating clinical policy, experience in conflict resolution and experience in working with IMG’s and an understanding of the issues that confront them within the Australian Health System. 

This is position is a part time vacancy, working 37.50 hours per fortnight and salary will be adjusted according to actual hours worked and classification will be determined by qualification and experience.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Screening/Check and specific immunisation requirements.  COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement under the Public Health Act 2011 (Healthcare Setting Workers Vaccination) (COVID-19) to work in SA Health/health care setting.
