Total Indicative Remuneration: $442,878 - $662,336 p.a - Ongoing Full Time - MD2 Consultant/Snr Consultant

The Emergency Medicine Consultant provides clinical leadership within the Emergency Department (ED) of Port Lincoln Hospital and the wider hospital community.  The ED Consultant oversees all aspects of safe, evidence-based, efficient, patient-centred medical care within the ED. This will include policy formulation and implementation.

 

The Emergency Medicine Consultant will work with colleagues, medical and nursing, to develop contemporary Emergency Medicine care processes such as fast-tracking of patients, nurse-initiated strategies and nurse practitioner led clinics; Actively engage in continuous quality improvement activities including audit, Morbidity and Mortality Review and patient complaint management; Actively engage in the supervision of medical students and junior medical staff. 

 

They will work with the Director of Clinical Services to develop a Diploma of Emergency Medicine to be offered at Port Lincoln Hospital and work with the Executive Director Medical Services on future planning of the Emergency Medicine service to offer a support service to the region’s hospitals; on the development of robust and safe services on a remote basis through telehealth consulting and on the development of a new facility within Port Lincoln Hospital for the Emergency Department.

 

The Emergency Medicine Consultant must have a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent; be a Fellow of the College of Emergency Medicine and registered as a specialist in Emergency Medicine and in good standing with the Medical Board of Australia.  They must have experience in formulating clinical policy, experience in conflict resolution, experience in human resource management and in working with IMG’s and an understanding of the issues that confront them within the Australian Health System.

 

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Screening/Check and specific immunisation requirements.  COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement under the Public Health Act 2011 (Healthcare Setting Workers Vaccination) (COVID-19) to work in SA Health/health care setting.
