GP down south operate two GP practices in Mandurah:
Peel Youth Medical Service and Nidjalla Waangan Mia Due to increasing demand for our services, we offer a unique and rewarding opportunity for GP/s to work across both practices, offering very different professional experiences within mental health and Aboriginal health services.
Peel Youth Medical Service (Peel Health Hub)
Peel Youth Medical Service is a bulk billing GP practice developed around a holistic model of care, focusing on young people aged 12-25 experiencing a range of mental health, sexual health, AOD issues wanting help to feel well again. We aim to build on great relationships through the assistance of ongoing care, education and counselling.
Demand is high for the services and we offer the opportunity for the right professional looking to expand their professional interests to join our team.
You will be directly supported by a professional administration team, experienced practice nurses, excellent GPs, mental health nurses, clinical care coordinators, psychologists, social workers and counsellors as well as an Adolescent Physician working on site. Additional services can be accessed through the 6 other associated and like minded organisations collaboratively working in the one centre.
The general practice offers a modern, bright workplace, excellent consult rooms, dedicated nursing support and free parking onsite. It is a 5 minute walk from the Mandurah train station, making the commute very easy and hassle free.
Nidjalla Waangan Mia
Nidjalla Waangan Mia was established in 2010 to deliver culturally sensitive medical services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Mandurah region and is a long standing practice in the community. Our GPs enjoy a friendly and efficient work environment and are well supported by A team of Nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers, Care Coordinator, Outreach Workers and Admin Staffs The Aboriginal teams work closely with community outreach programs to address barriers to care. Clients can also access additional services like the visiting paediatrician, podiatry clinics and dental service relevant to clients needs.
Hours of work
3 days per week with 6 -10 sessions per week flexible times and days available
Opening hours: 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Weekends: Closed
Type of Contract
Contracted Employment / 75% of MBS receipted billings
Qualifications and Experience
- Vocationally Registered (VR)
- Fellowship of RACGP
- Proven Experience as General Practitioner
- Strong ability to triage and multitask
- Relevant client caseload management experience
- Knowledge and experience of Medicare billing practices
- Understanding of Aboriginal Culture, values, Health issues and Social determinants or willingness to complete cultural awareness training.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
Willingness to practice according to the RACGP standards
- Current knowledge of principles and practices of Equal Opportunity and Occupational Safety and Health and how these impact on employment service delivery.
- Clinical experience in an Aboriginal Medical Service. Knowledge of Best Practice software systems
