In 2021 Bupa is proud to have expanded our Health Services contract with the Australian Defence Force to the provision of services to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA).

Our role is to support the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) to meet the Nation’s commitment to care for our veteran and defence service community – the men and women who have served Australia in times of war and conflict as well as peacetime.

About the role
The Transition Medical Assessment Pilot Project (TMAPP) assists transitioning and injured Defence members by providing them with high quality medical evidence to be submitted with their claims to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
As part of this program, we’re looking for a a GP with an interest in occupational medicine to join the team and help support our transitioning members through:
- Under direct supervision of the OEP provide Veteran-centric services to transitioning and injured ADF members by providing expert medical evidence for DVA claims submissions.
- Undertake medical assessments, file reviews and documentation submission for DVA initial liability and permanent impairment claims, incapacity support and other submissions as required, including ComSuper. This includes liaison with treating Specialists and organising supporting investigations.
- Work co-operatively with the other TMAPP team members.
- Liaise with relevant Defence and ACTHC staff including Medical Officers, Rehabilitation Providers and others.
- Liaise with the DVA on base Veteran Service Officers (VSO).
- Liaise with DVA claims delegates.
- Act in accordance with the ADF HSC and TMAPP Services Management Plan (SMP)
This role will be based from Duntroon Health Centre, in the ACT. It will be casual, with an expected workload starting at one day per week.
About you
Please note: You must be an Australian citizen and be able to attain and maintain a baseline security clearance from the Defence security and vetting service.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA with at least 5 years clinical experience.
- AHPRA registration as a Specialist GP, and hold FRACGP or FACCRM with an interest in occupational/veteran medicine.
- Ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team.
- High level written and oral communication skills.
