About the Role:
The GP Medical Lead will join our generalist and speciality clinical leads, to develop, lead and drive high quality patient care while providing medical supervision and care for patients attending ambulatory care.
It is expected that the successful candidate will be eligible to hold a joint conjoint academic appointment with our partner University and be able to mould the career of the next generation of doctors in a one of a kind end-to-end program.
There is an exciting opportunity to live and work in sub-regional Victoria as we build a new hospital, joining the team at Swan Hill District Health (SHDH).
About Swan Hill:
Swan Hill is located on the Murray River in rural Victoria approximately 3.5 hours north-west of the Melbourne airport. We employ approximately 630 staff and service a 100 km radius area with an estimated catchment area of around 35,000 people. Schools in the region have demonstrated academic excellence in outcomes for Year 12 graduates.

Selection Criteria:
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and/or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine Previous experience or advanced skills in Emergency Medicine, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Rural Medicine an advantage. Knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Competence in performing the range of minor urgent procedures commonly undertaken in a rural setting including competency to respond to neonatal resuscitation. Demonstrated effective communication skills in dealing with patients, their relative and professional colleagues. Evidence of ongoing participation and commitment to continuing medical education Desirable Experience as a medical educator, competence and experience in supervising medical student research projects and involvement in hospital research projects.
