Hours of work

40 hours per week (full-time) or part-time, during centre opening hours (Monday to Friday 7.00am to 10.00pm, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays (8.00am to 10.00pm)

 

Required qualifications

 

  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school
  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Previous post-graduate experience in general practice
  • Prepared to participate in continuing professional development activities

 

Skills and duties 

  • Provide comprehensive, continuing medical care for individuals, families and the communities through working as a General Practitioner
  • Conduct consultations to follow up on simple and complex health conditions
  • Provide a range of health services including prevention, treatment and rehabilitation
  • Consult with other health professionals (i.e. nurses, other specialists and allied health)
  • Reporting births, deaths and notifiable diseases to government authorities
  • Arranging admission of patients to hospitals if necessary
  • Ordering diagnostics (laboratory tests, imaging and other diagnostic procedures) and interpreting findings to assist in diagnosis
