The Riverland General Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in rural South Australia and has been identified as one of the four general hospitals to provide treatment for Country people closer to home. Riverland General Hospital provides a comprehensive range of high quality and accessible hospital services to the Riverland region. Its contemporary Emergency Department was built in 2014 during the redevelopment of the Riverland General Hospital.

 

The Riverland General Hospital is located near the Murray River, surrounded by National Parks and nearby Lake Bonney for water sports. It is surrounded by four other towns each with their own hospital. The city of Berri offers a high level of services and facilities for both families and individuals. This includes a vast array of sporting and recreational facilities, sightseeing, Tertiary Education Campuses, Primary and Secondary Schools.

 

The Riverland region is also renown for its diversity and multi cultural communities.

 

The Director of Clinical Training (DCT) demonstrates clinical leadership ensuring prevocational Interns, Trainee Medical Officers (TMOs) employed within the Riverland Academy of Clinical Excellence, Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network (RMCLHN) receive high quality education, training, assessment and support in accordance with the established state and national standards for prevocational medical education and training of the South Australian Medical Education and Training (SA MET), Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Australian Medical Council (AMC).

 

The DCT provides leadership to the Medical Education Unit (MEU), by supporting and encouraging professional development of MEU team members with the aim of improving processes, striving for education best practice delivery. The DCT provides leadership and support to MEU team members by leading and supporting engagement of the unit with key internal (RMCLHN) and external stakeholders who across both public and private facilities in RMCLHN that support the training of the Interns and TMOs.

 

The DCT is also actively participates and supports quality, safety, clinical risk management and continuing professional development activities.

 

The DCT will also maintain a close reporting / working relationship with the RMCLHN Executive Director of Clinical Innovation as part of the Riverland Academy of Clinical Excellence.

 

Applicants must have a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.

 

This is a part time vacancy, working 22.5 hours per fortnight and salary will be adjusted according to actual hours worked.

 

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Screening/Check and specific immunisation requirements.

 

COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement under the Emergency Management (Healthcare Setting Workers Vaccination) (COVID-19) Directions 2021 to work in SA Health/health care setting.
