Clinical Editor HealthPathways Program | Minimum of 4-6 hours pw | Deakin, ACT

Capital Health Network, ACT’s Primary Health Network, is seeking Expressions of Interest from General Practitioners who would like to undertake a review of our live pages on the HealthPathways website, with scope for development of new pathways in the future. Minimum of 4-6 hours per week commitment required, for a 6-month period with a possibility of extension.

The original pathways were written by experienced, local GPs and received feedback from medical specialists. As part of the ongoing development and review of HealthPathways, Capital Health Network is seeking expressions of interest from GPs in the ACT who would like to become involved in 2022 as a GP Clinical Editor.

Be part of a program which aims to:

  • reduce variations of care, particularly for patients with complex and/or chronic conditions and improve the quality and timeliness of referral process and care coordination;
  • establish locally relevant health pathways, care coordination tools and referral templates for clinicians at the point of care;
  • influence strategic and health system reform and support systemic change locally;
  • strengthen collaboration between General Practice with other specialties;
  • tailor clinical and referral guidelines to match the specific characteristics of the health workforce within ACT;
  • align shared strategic interests with health and social support services;
  • champion the expectations and standards required to make HealthPathways useful to primary care.

Essential Criteria to be met:

  • be an experienced, practicing local GP with FRACGP or FACRRM and current Medical Board of Australia/AHPRA registration;
  • have strong knowledge and/or experience of the health system in ACT (e.g. GP based in the ACT or SNSW region);
  • be able to successfully cultivate and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop/review pathways effectively;
  • have strong analytical skills with an ability to distil key information from complex and multiple sources;
  • have willingness to occasionally meet with other GP Clinical Editors and the Project Coordinator, and specialists – either in person or virtually;
  • Can commit to minimum of 4-6 hours of Clinical Editor work per week.
