Tired of watching out for snakes and spiders? Sick of getting pummelled in the rugby? Have you considered moving to NZ?

Join an emerging team of Rural Generalists as we establish a best practice model in Rural Hospital Medicine.

Taupo Hospital, based in the centre of the North Island, services approx. 34,000 local residents and large numbers of tourists. It combines a 14 bed busy emergency department with a 15 bed inpatient unit, an operating theatre, birth suite, chemotherapy infusion clinic and busy outpatient department. Excitingly a CT scanner will be operational by the end of the year.

We are gathering an enthusiastic team of clinicians dedicated to building a leading rural medical service. The job is a generalist blend of emergency department work seeing all ages and presentations, adult inpatient medicine and outpatient practice.

We are committed to better servicing our local community and in time there may be opportunities to develop services around paediatric, obstetrics & gynaecology, general practice and minor surgical procedures/endoscopy depending on your existing skills and experience.

The town is centrally located on the north island of New Zealand, It is considered to be an adventure playground popular with tourists of all ages. There are world class mountain biking trails, hiking- the famous Tongariro crossing is just down the road, and skiing in winter (Whakapapa), Lake Taupo and associated rivers are world renowned for trout fishing and popular for boating/kayaking.

Applicants must be eligible for Specialist (Vocational) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a Rural Hospital Medicine Specialist. Australian citizens do not need a visa to live or work in NZ. Of note most fellows of ACRRM enjoy reciprocity with the Division of Rural Hospitalist Medicine.

The relocation, remuneration package and CME allowance for successful long term and permanent appointments are based on those negotiated via the association of salaried medical specialist, details of which can be found on their website (https://www.asms.org.nz/)
