The Opportunity

Crookwell District Hospital is an 18-bed acute care facility providing general medical services. The hospital has an emergency department operating 24/7.

A range of community health services are provided, as well as outreach services from Goulburn Community Health, including mental health services.

The hospital is supported by a number of Visiting Medical Officers who also provide General Practice services to the community. GP VMOs are presented with a unique opportunity to cover the emergency department and assist in the mentorship and teaching for junior staff. You will also participate in quality improvement initiatives and offer insights to ensure ongoing communication throughout the department.

You will provide primary health care and emergency department support to the local community. From diagnosis to treatment the GP will play an integral role within the local community and use one’s well-rounded skill set to treat a wide case range from ongoing to urgent with duties including ward rounds, GP work and ED duties. Support from nursing staff will ensure you are able to provide the highest quality of medical care to your patients and to this community.

The Location

Crookwell is a picturesque town, just under an hour by car to Goulburn and an hour and a half to Canberra. It is a pleasant, rural town and is renowned for its agriculture and sporting fixtures. The district is recognised as one of the state's major producers of seed potatoes, wool, lamb, beef cattle, oats, hay, dairy produce and cold-climate fruits. There are also horse studs, alpaca farms and olive groves in the area. The town is high on the Great Dividing Range and close to Wombeyan Caves. You will experience the true beauty of living in rural NSW.

Essential Criteria

  • Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and/or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM)
  • Compliance with the NSW Health Credential requirements
