An exciting opportunity exists for medical practitioners to apply their skills to a broader non-clinical compliance role in the Department of Health. Under the Department's Practitioner Review Program, Medical Advisers play a key role in protecting the integrity of the Medicare Program and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Analysing data from a range of data tools to identify possible non-compliance with Medicare and PBS requirements or inappropriate practice.
- Managing a case load of practitioners under the PRP, including conducting practitioner interviews and/or practice site visits to effectively and professionally communicate concerns of possible inappropriate practice, seek practitioner responses, determine whether concerns remain and prepare reports and correspondence to advise of outcomes.
- Drawing on clinical knowledge of contemporary practice, and liaising with practitioners and their legal advisers on matters arising out or PRP interventions or other compliance matters, including any concerns that remain unresolved.
- Applying clinical experience and professional advice more broadly to support the development and implementation of the department’s other compliance activities and policies.
- Demonstrating a high level verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
