Flexible working conditions are genuinely available in Wollongong!  The current Doctor will be continuing on a locum basis and is happy to cover for periods of leave or other flexible arrangements that may be required, including coverage over all school holidays should the successful applicant require this time off.

The Wollongong office is centrally located in the CBD in the main shopping precinct, close to public transport, paid parking, cafes and restaurants, and just a quick walk to the beach.

About the Role

We are seeking a focussed and experienced Doctor to join the Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) Medical Assessment team in Wollongong.    

This vacancy is for a Part Time team member to ideally work 22.5 hours per week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Hours are normally 8am to 4pm with some earlier start times or occasional later finishes, advance notice will be provided.  There is the requirement to be rostered on and work some (albeit limited) Public Holidays and Saturdays.

This position is responsible for medically assessing candidates to determine their suitability for entry into the Australian Defence Forces.  Utilising your extensive medical background the successful applicant will make accurate clinical decisions that are relied upon at all stages of a candidate’s assessment and enlistment.

This role requires high level interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships as it works as part of a small multidisciplinary team including Nursing, Administration, Psychology, Recruitment and Military personnel.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have a general practice, occupational medicine or medical on-base/defence background.  Specific experience in pre-employment medicals would be desirable.  Confidence in navigating company software and general computer skills along with a desire to be a team player is critical to the success of the applicant.  Experience in the provision of training and auditing of clinical services would be advantageous.

To be eligible for this position applicants must have unconditional registration with AHPRA, Australian Citizenship is essential and must be willing to undergo the Australian Defence Force (ADF) security clearance process.  Fellowship with a relevant college would be highly advantageous.
