This is a 12 month post for a final year trainee or postgraduate Fellow. The position is designed to assist in the provision of high quality care to Gastroenterology and Hepatology patients in the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network. There are additional opportunities to pursue special interest training and research.  

Holding a MBBS or equivalent, you will have full registration as a Medical Officer with the Medical Board of South Australia. You will also be registered for (or completed) the final year of the Advanced Training Programme of the RACP in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

This will be supported by a commensurate level of clinical experience. You will be accountable to the Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and the Head of relevant subspecialty units to assist in the provision of a high quality clinical service to Inpatients, Outpatients and patients in the Endoscopy Unit.

In addition to undertaking daily ward rounds for inpatients, you will also attend two gastroenterology outpatient clinics per week under the supervision of a consultant. You will also have the opportunity to attend 2-3 selected endoscopy lists per week as determined by the Head of Endoscopy. You will be expected to participate in the education and training of junior medical staff and undertake undergraduate clinical teaching when required.

Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) is the area's largest hospital providing medical services for Southern Adelaide and major regional rural centres. It is the flagship hospital for the region and has recently undergone an exciting period of redevelopment, with $185 million invested in new, state-of-the-art health facilities including a 55 bed rehabilitation centre, a 15 bed palliative care facility, and a 30 bed older person’s mental health unit.
