Our busy Private billing centre is seeking a Medical Practitioner with a special interest in Bariatric Medicine to join our team in our well established, ever-growing, beautifully appointed practice. Flexible hours are available to finally get that right work-life balance!

Our Centre provides a comprehensive multidisciplinary medical, endoscopic and surgical weight loss service, along with infusion clinic and cryolipolysis (fat-freezing).

We also perform Upper GI surgery and research across 3 hospitals in the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

The Centre offers laparoscopic and robotic Bariatric surgery service encompassing sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, duodenal switch and revisional surgery. Endoscopic procedures offered include gastroscopy, gastric balloons and endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty. There is an integrated medical weight loss program providing adjuvant therapy to surgical and endoscopic services as well as stand-alone medical weight loss therapy, as well as infusion clinic to support optimal post-operative hydration and nutrition and cryolipolysis (fat-freezing) clinic for non-invasive body contouring services.

The position is to provide medical management of surgical, endoscopic and medical weight loss patients. This involves pre-operative assessment, peri-operative medical care and post-operative medical follow up for 12-24 months. It involves overseeing the integrated infusion and cryolipolysis clinic.

Research opportunities exist in clinical studies, quality assurance and audits as well as multi-site research collaborations. The successful candidate will be able to contribute to at least one major clinical project suitable for publication and presentation at national or international meeting. Enrolment for a higher degree in research may be considered.

The position is supported by a multidisciplinary team of nurses, dietitians and exercise therapists who care for patients.

This is a salaried position, remuneration dependant on qualifications and experience.

Applicants would ideally:

• hold general medical registration in Australia with no restrictions (VR-GP registered)
• have an interest in upper GI surgery and wishing to enhance bariatric surgical experience
• have a pro-active, patient centred clinical approach with a commitment to best practice
• enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
• be seeking opportunities for ongoing training and development

This position may suit a doctor with general registration and a provider number that allows the ability to refer, request and prescribe but not bill Medicare for consultations.
