VR GP/VMO Opportunities - DWS - King & Flinders Island +$450K

The Opportunity

Ochre Health are currently seeking experienced and capable General Practitioners interested in working on Tasmania’s stunning Bass Strait islands, King and Flinders Island.

As the sole providers of medical care on both islands, there is a well-established patient base for both medical centres, as well as a great opportunity to supplement your income through providing on-call support to the hospital facilities. We currently have a number of vacancies across these locations.

The Location

Located to Tasmania’s north in the Bass Strait, the islands of King and Flinders are stunningly beautiful. To the north-west lies King Island. Its exposure to the prevailing westerlies and proximity to the continental shelf have resulted in a shoreline equally scattered with hidden surf breaks and forgotten shipwrecks, whilst the salty spray onto seaside grazing pastures have created the optimal conditions for dairy production. This has been capitalised on by King Island Dairy, one of Tasmania's leading artisanal cheese makers. The primary industries of the island are fishing, dairy farming, and tourism.

To the north-east lies Flinders Island. The largest island in the Furneaux group, Flinders Island boasts a number of great attractions. These include the ruggedly striking Strzelecki peaks – these granite peaks afford a stunning view in every direction, and are a must-do for any visitors to the island with an interest in bushwalking or photography. For the Epicures, Flinders brings a bounty of fresh produce, with the warm water currents that run up the East Coast of Australia providing an endless supply of seafood including crayfish, abalone, and other delicacies. Flinders also has a number of boutique wineries operating on the island, including Unavale Vineyard and Flinders Island Winery.

Requirements

• General Registration or Vocational Registration with AHPRA
• Proficient with common general practice conditions
• Previous experience as a Rural General Practitioner is highly desirable
• Current emergency medicine certificate (APLS, ELS etc.)
• Recent experience in an unsupervised setting
